Society for Serving Seniors (SSS) is a society set up in October 2006 to take up the cause of the Senior Citizens Community as a whole. We believe that seniors should take care of themselves as far as possible and lead an independent life with dignity and respect. They must take responsibility for themselves for the sake of their own happiness. Fully responsible seniors not only take complete care of them selves but also reach out, not only to their families in a non-interfering manner but also to the society at large. This they do so by giving back to society what society has given them all along.
SSS is a Society established for Empowering, Nurturing, Informing and Organizing Responsible Seniors. Empowerment may be achieved through a) advising on matters of financial security b) facilitating exchange of Information Knowledge or Experience c) help them organize as groups and uniting such groups into a pressure group d) providing opportunities for learning new things etc. There could be many more things added to this list. Old Age is second childhood or elders learn to play second innings. Here SSS steps in by offering a wide range of services, products or facilities tailored to various segments of the senior population.

HelpAge India is secular, not-for-profit organization registered under the Societies' Registration Act of 1860. We were set up in 1978, and since then have been raising resources to protect the rights of India’s elderly and provide relief to them through various interventions.
We voice the needs of India’s 90 million (current estimate)“grey” population, and directly impact the lives of lakhs of elders through our services every year.
We advocate with national & local government to bring about policy that is beneficial to the elderly.
We make society aware of the concerns of the aged and promote better understanding of ageing issues.
We help the elderly become aware of their own rights so that they get their due and are able to play an active role in society.
Upholding the Rights of the Aged
HelpAge India is the leading advocate for Older People’s rights. We speak up for India’s 90 million (current estimate) grey population to help       them live with dignity, independence & self-fulfilment.
HelpAge’s Chief Executive represents the organisation on the National Planning Commission. We have been providing various inputs during  formal/ informal discussions to India’s 11th Five Year Plan Document. HelpAge has actively participated in discussions for formulating the Union Ministry recommendations on the Plan document to the National Planning Commission. HelpAge is also a member of the National Council of Older Persons.

Our role is that of an enabler between two groups of people.

A1. Ageing is an irreversible biological phenomenon. It is the survival of a growing number of people completing their traditional adult roles.
A2. Persons above sixty years of age are classified as aged persons, though the age limit is irrelevant due to increased life expectancy in India.
A3. A silent revolution has occurred in the last 100 years. It is about the growth of life expectancy. All over the world life expectancy has risen, leading to a sharp rise in the number of Older Persons.
In India life expectancy has gone up from 20 years in the beginning of the 20th century to 62 years today. Better medical care and low fertility have made the elderly the fastest growing section of society.
